Alterations & Repairs
Good denim is made to be worn. And when it’s worn enough, it will eventually show it.
At Denim Ranch, we believe that’s part of the story. Fading, fraying, worn knees, busted crotches and repaired pockets are all signs that a pair of jeans has lived a life.
Rather than replacing a good pair when it starts to show its age, we want to help you keep wearing it.
We offer denim repairs and alterations in-store, from simple hemming and repairs to more substantial work on well-loved jeans. Whether they came from Denim Ranch or somewhere else, bring them in and we’ll take a look.
Because the best pair of jeans is the one you keep wearing.
ALTERATIONS
HEMMING ALTERATIONS
Need your jeans shortened? We can help.
We offer hemming on denim and other trousers, with the exact finish depending on the original construction of the garment. Where possible, we’ll preserve the original character of the jeans, including the original hem finish.
Bring your jeans into the shop and we’ll assess them, pin them to the length you want and advise you on the best finish.
Prices may vary depending on the weight, construction and finish of the garment.
WAIST ALTERATIONS
Need a little more room — or want to take the waist in?
We can alter the waistband and seat of suitable jeans. The amount we can adjust depends on the construction of the garment, so we’ll assess each pair individually.
LEG TAPERING ALTERATIONS
Want a more streamlined fit without changing the character of your jeans?
We can taper the leg from the knee down, with or without preserving the original topstitching depending on the construction of the garment.
REPAIRS
Denim is tough, but it isn't indestructible.
Over time, areas of high friction, particularly the crotch, pockets, knees, hems and seams can start to wear through. Rather than seeing this as the end of a pair of jeans, we see it as an opportunity to give them another life.
We can repair holes, reinforce worn areas, repair seams, replace belt loops and work on pockets and other areas of damage.
We repair Denim Ranch denim and jeans from other brands.
Every repair is assessed individually, as the cost depends on the size of the damage, the weight and construction of the denim, and the work required.
Some of the repairs we offer:
-
Crotch repairs and blowouts
-
Small and large holes
-
Worn knees and high-friction areas
-
Pocket repairs and reinforcement
-
Belt loop replacement
-
Seam repairs
-
Hem and cuff reinforcement
-
Button replacement
-
Zip replacement
-
General reinforcement and patching
For larger repairs, we'll assess the garment before carrying out any work and confirm the price with you.
HOW WE REPAIR
Our approach is simple: repair it properly, but keep it looking like your jeans.
Where appropriate, we use darning and reinforcement techniques to rebuild worn areas and extend the life of the garment. We aim to work with the existing character of the denim rather than making a repair that looks completely out of place.
Every pair is different. The colour of the denim, amount of fading, weight, construction and location of the damage will all affect the finished repair.
A repair is not always meant to disappear. Sometimes the best repairs are the ones that become part of the story.
A NOTE ON REPAIRS
Repairs are assessed individually and we reserve the right to decline a repair where the garment is too damaged, structurally compromised or unsuitable for the work required.
We cannot guarantee an invisible repair. Denim fades and ages differently across every garment, so matching the colour of the original fabric or stitching exactly isn't always possible.
Our priority is to create a strong, practical repair that allows you to keep wearing your jeans.
BEFORE YOU BRING YOUR JEANS IN
Please make sure your jeans are clean and freshly washed before bringing them in for repair or alteration.
This is important for hygiene and for the people working on your garment. It also allows us to properly assess the condition of the denim before starting any work.
If you're unsure whether your jeans can be repaired, bring them into the shop and we'll take a look.
For larger repairs, you can also send us photographs in advance and we'll give you an initial idea of what may be possible and the likely cost.
TURNAROUND
Our usual turnaround is 2-7 days, depending on the repair or alteration and how busy the workshop is.
We'll give you an estimated collection date when you drop your jeans off.
